Note	Karel had een eigen meubelmakerij in de Wielakkerstraat. Hij was timmerman en meubelmaker. Verschillende familieleden zijn nog in het bezit van meubelstukken die hij heeft gemaakt. De samensteller van dit boek heeft ee spiegel van zijn hand.Hijwe rkte veel samen met zijn broer Willem bij het bieden op de aannemersmarkt. Karel leverde aan Willem ook houtwerk. De zonen van Karel werden al vroeg in de timmerwerkplaats ingezet en er op uit gestuurd om opdrachten binnen te krijgen. Karel en zijn vrouw hebben hun kinderen alle mogelijkheden gegeven om te kunnen studeren. Na de dood van zijn vrouw woond Karel bij zijn zoon Bert in Roermond, en na de oorlog korte tijd bij zijn dochter Bets in Maasniel. Toen Bert verhuisde naar Roosendaal is hij naar Arnhem teruggekeerd, en is toen ingetrokken bij zijn dochter Lien aan het Eusebiusplein naast de Eusebiuskerk, waar zijn schoonzoon koster was. Deze kerk in de jaren 90 afgebroken. Daar is hij ook overleden. Begraven op de begraafplaats Moscowa.
